Following an investigation by North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement (ALE), a Raleigh bar’s ABC permits have been summarily suspended after multiple acts of violence, most recently a shooting early Sunday morning.
On Sunday, April 13, 2025, the Raleigh Police Department responded to a reported shooting at Starbar, located at 1731 Trawick Road. While no one was injured, multiple vehicles were struck by gunfire.
“ALE special agents conducted an investigation into ongoing violence associated with Starbar, which ultimately resulted in the immediate suspension of its ABC permits by the ABC Commission,” said Bryan House, Director of North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement. “During the suspension, it is illegal to sell or serve alcohol at this establishment. We hope this suspension will help prevent future violence and have a positive impact on the surrounding community.”
Starbar has a history of violent incidents, arrests, and numerous calls for service, including controlled substance offenses, assaults, disturbances, shootings, and ABC violations occurring on or around the licensed premises. As a result of this incident and the history of violence documented during the investigation, the ABC Commission has suspended Starbar’s ABC permits.
For documentation related to the summary suspension, please contact the North Carolina Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission or visit their website at Home Page | NC ABCC.
The shooting remains under investigation by the Raleigh Police Department.
